Robots:

Having robots in a poultry processing plant will greatly decrease the cost of labor. However, the need for uniformity in the birds is imperative as the machines will need calibrated for one size of bird.

Vacuum sealing:

Vacuum sealing removes air from the product and reduces the chance for lipid oxidation. Therefore, the shelf life of the product will be extended.

Yield management systems:

Increasing yield is always paramount in the poultry processing industry. Georgia Tech has created a system that drives competition between workers to increase yield during deboning.

High Pressure Processing:

Using high pressure processing will extend shelf life and quality, reduce the need for added preservatives. The high pressure processing can also increase yield.

3-D cutting machines:

These machines are capable of reducing lost yield from trimming and can create the maximum number of chicken pieces with the lease amount of waste.
